About Sandhill Creek Tulip Fest

What is Tulip Fest?

We are very excited to be opening our first ever Tulip Fest!  We have planted rows and rows of beautiful tulips on our family farm for visitors to enjoy, in fact, we put in over 350,000 bulbs in the ground this past fall on 4 acres!   We offer a unique experience for visitors to come enjoy being surrounded by tulips, take in their beauty and capture beautiful moments among the flowers!  This is the only one of it's kind in the Grey-Bruce area!

Tulip Fest Bloom Guide

This is a GUIDE-ish - meaning it could fluctuate a couple of days as mother nature works her hand at turning green buds into colourful splendour.

May 10,11, 12: We open on the 10th and expect to have 25-40% of our tulips blooming.  This is best for picking tulips as they last longer in your vase at home when they're picked slightly before opening (but not green).  There will be sections of the field that are blooming, while others are still in buds.

May 13-18: expect to see the most vibrant tulips, exceptional for pictures as 50-80% are bloomed.

May 19th-closing: Overbloom: All tulips will have either bloomed or are in bloom.  Tulips that are on their way out still have a lot of colour and will show up nicely for pictures.

What you need to know before you visit

  • Tickets: Tulip Fest is a ticketed event!  Tickets are recommended for weekends, purchase here to secure your spot.
  • Admission: General Admission is $11.95 + fees + HST per person online, At the gate: $14.16+hst. Children 5 and under are free.
  • U-Pick: Visitors are welcome to pick a bouquet of tulips to take home for an additional fee of $1.50/stem.  A flower picked is a flower purchased.... meaning only pick flowers you intend to purchase.  Bulbs stay in the ground (and will die after the flower is picked).
  • Payment accepted: Tickets are purchased online with a credit card.  We accept cash, debit or credit cards for bouquets and boutique items.
  • Rain or shine: This is a rain or shine event.  We will be open even during the rain.  In the event of a severe weather threat (ie. thunderstorm or tornado) then we will close and provide options for ticket holders to reschedule.
  • Parking: Free parking is available at the farm in designated areas.
  • Drones:  Drones are not permitted on the farm as this is our family home.
  • Professional photography:  Please visit our photography section.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When will the tulips bloom?

 A. In our area tulips typically bloom early May for 2-3 weeks.  As this is dependent on mother nature, please check our social media and website for updates.

Q. What are you hours?

 A. During blooming season we are open from 10am-7pm, last entry at 6pm.  When you purchase a ticket, that is your arrival time.  You are allowed to stay as long as you like until closing.  Most people spend around an hour at the field.

Q. Are dogs allowed?

 A. Dogs are NOT permitted on the farm during tulip season, service dogs are allowed.

Q. How close can we get to the tulips?

 A. There are paths between all of the rows where visitors can walk to get close to the tulips to admire their beauty and take photos.  Please stay on the paths to avoid damaging the tulips.

Q. Is the farm suitable for mobility devices (strollers, wheel chairs, etc)?

 A.  Yes the main paths are suited for mobility devices.  Please keep in mind it is still a field and there may be some weeds, ruts, or other challenges along the way.  Also note that the paths will be more packed down further into the season due to foot traffic.

Q. If it rains will it be muddy?

 A.  Our sandy soil holds up well in rain, it doesn't get muddy the way a loam field would.  Please wear appropriate footwear.  (Avoiding white shoes would be a good idea!)

Q. What should I wear?

 A.  Come dressed for the elements as this is a rain or shine event.  Also wear appropriate footwear to be walking in a field.  You may want rubber boots if we've had a lot of rain.  While our field holds up well in the rain, it can get quite dusty in dry weather.  White shoes and sandals are not recommended.

Q. Can I just show up or do I need a ticket?

  A.  Tickets are required to enter the field and need to be purchased in advance.  This allows us to monitor capacity and plan staffing.

Q. Am I able to reschedule my tickets?

  A.  Yes you are!  There is a self serve feature, instructions can be found here

Q. Are there washrooms on site?

  A.  There are porta potties available for our visitors to use.

Q. Is there any food available at Tulip Fest?

  A.  We do not have any food available for purchase on site.

Please respect our property so we can continue to open up our fields to others.
